The Time Has Come!

This day has been "in the future" for such a long time now, it's hard to believe that October 6th has finally arrived!  Before I get busy with the final packing and cleaning, I thought I should take a minute to to post a quick update and ask for continue prayers throughout our travels.  Our flight leaves tonight around 8:40 PST and we will arrive in London about 9 hours later.  We have a 4-hour lay over in London, then will fly another 3 hours on to Bucharest.  We are scheduled to arrive in Bucharest at 11:50pm local time on Friday night (around 3:50pm CST).  Please pray that our travels are uneventful, that the kids are cooperative (mostly Kamryn:) ), and that all of our luggage arrives with us!

So, what does our final day in Vancouver hold in store?  First, we have to make sure we get our showers done by 9 in case they turn off the hot water again in our building due to repairs...then we will finish packing and check the weight on all our luggage (12 checked bags, 4 carry-on suitcases, and 4 backpacks)...if we are fortunate to still have hot water, we will wash all our sheets and towels to leave behind...then we will finish cleaning the apartment...at some point Ryan will have to return our internet modem and take a bag of clothes to the Salvation Army...looks like the kids may be watching lots of videos!:)  Maybe, just maybe, we will have time to sit and rest a moment before heading to the airport around 4:30pm!

We are filled with such a variety of emotions at this point - mostly excitement, but also a little anxiety and sadness.  It is exciting for us to know that we are actually on our way to Romania, to be able to finally settle in somewhere for more than a few months, and to see what God has in store for us there!  It has been such a long journey to this point, but God has lead us through it all and strengthened us each step along the way.  We feel so blessed that God has chosen to use our family in Romania and pray that we can be a blessing to those we meet.

God tells us to "be anxious for nothing", so I am trying to give over my anxieties and fears to Him.  I know that He is with me always, but I am still anxious about the trip, mostly about the kids and how they will do on long plane ride.  Please pray for them, and also for my own anxieties.

There is also a bit of sadness mixed in with all the other emotions.  We've known this day was coming, but is it now very real that we are leaving friends and family. We want each one of you to know how much you are loved and how much you will be missed.  Even though it is not the same as being there in person, I am so thankful for all the ways we can stay connected through technology.  Please stay in touch and let us know how you are doing and how we can pray for you!
