On January 13th, around 7:30am, we headed to the DFW airport and began our journey back to Romania. When traveling overseas with 3 children, there are always speed bumps along the way, but overall it was a great trip. We appreciate your prayers!
The first leg of our trip was a 3 hour flight from DFW to New York. The plane only had 4 seats across a row, so Carter sat by himself in the row behind us and was super excited about it!

In New York, we had a couple of hours to spend, so we ate burgers and hot dogs from The Shake Shack, made our restroom stops, then were ready to board for the 7-hour flight to Amsterdam. Alexa is the only one that slept on this flight. Praise God that the seat next to her was empty, so she was able to comfortably lay down and sleep for about 3 hours. The other two were too busy watching in-flight movies to bother with sleep. Ryan and I dozed a little off and on, but not enough to feel rested for the remainder of our travels! :)
The layover in Amsterdam was the most difficult part of the trip. It definitely could have been much worse than a 3-hour layover, but at this point, everyone was a bit tired and cranky. And this particular airport didn't have much seating available. Thankfully, we found a place to camp out and tried (somewhat unsuccessfully) to keep everyone happy.

After 22 hours in airports and on airplanes, we finally arrived in Bucharest around 2pm (local time) on January 14th. And all 15 of our checked suitcases made it! Words can not express how happy we were to finally arrive at our apartment and begin to settle in. That evening we were able to keep the kids up until 7:30pm...and we were in bed by 8:30!
